Jim Batchelor, Arrowstreet’s President and CEO, has design interests that range from education to mixed use. Across institutional, commercial, and housing sectors he expresses his enthusiasm for enlivening cities and communities with good architecture and planning. His approach translates an understanding of occupants' requirements into designs that are fresh, creative, and compatible with the surrounding community, both here in the US and internationally.Jim served as the 2009 President of the Boston Society of Architects and is a frequent speaker on the topic of sustainability and energy efficiency, including serving as Chair of the NESEA conference. He led Arrowstreet’s work designing the Artists for Humanity EpiCenter, Boston’s first Platinum-Rated LEED building. Jim is currently Chairman of the Brookline Preservation Commission and has taught at the MIT Center for Real Estate. A former Loeb Fellow at Harvard University, he holds Masters’ Degrees in both Architecture and City Planning from MIT.
