1550 Main Street, designed by Arrowstreet, was awarded The Outstanding Building of the Year distinction by the Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) for the second consecutive year in a row. The former federal office building, owned MassDevelopment, was renovated as part of a strategy to help revitalize downtown Springfield, MA. Working together with MassDevelopment and the City of Springfield, Arrowstreet designed a comprehensive package of exterior and interior building renovations to convert the building into Class-A commercial offices with ground floor retail uses. In addition, Arrowstreet redesigned the central plaza to improve circulation and its position as a meeting place on Main Street.
Arrowstreet principal Amy Korté was chosen by Banker & Tradesman as a recipient of their Women In Finance, Insurance, and Real Estate award. The honor recognizes Massachusetts women who demonstrate talent, ambition, innovation, and philanthropy. B&T, along with a distinguished panel of judges, selected inspirational women who have achieved excellence and are making a difference. The recipients will be honored at a luncheon on Thursday, July 17th at 11:00 am at the Sheraton Commander Hotel. State Auditor Suzanne M. Bump will give the keynote speech.
The Cambridge Historical Commission gave an award to MIT and its team for the preservation of 130 Brookline Street, a 1927 masonry building with generously over-sized windows. It was once known as the Chicago Auto Building, but had been long-neglected. The awards program celebrates outstanding efforts to preserve Cambridge’s historic character and built environment…

I was fortunate to attend an award sponsored by Unilock at Showcase Live in Patriot Place. The event was a wonderful evening of fine dining and celebration. The award honored design professionals; Arrowstreet being amongst those honored with an award of Excellence in Design for the MBTA Wonderland Project located in Revere. It was an honor to accept the award on behalf of the design team who made calculated decisions to create what is an exceptional design.
Arrowstreet!
As we previously blogged, NRI hosted a 3D model contest at ABX. Our model was chosen as one of three finalists, and then the ultimate winner. Now we’re brainstorming how to use the $1,500 credit prize toward a 3D model of our choice.

I recently attended the Banker & Tradesman ceremony honoring their Best of 2013 awards recipients. Arrowstreet was voted Gold this year in an open poll among B&T’s readers in the Architect / Design category. It was a nice evening, with a great venue – Sean, Amy, and I enjoyed views across the Charles River to downtown Boston.
Arrowstreet was voted the best architecture firm in Boston by readers of Banker & Tradesman. Thanks to all of our clients and friends of the firm that voted!

The Boston Business Journal honored KIPP Academy Lynn earlier this week with their Best in Real Estate award earlier this week. Here is the corresponding article.

It was announced today that Arrowstreet’s KIPP Academy Lynn project was awarded the 2013 Boston Business Journal’s Best in Boston Real Estate Award for “Community Impact.”
The award is recognition of the fantastic impact that the KIPP program has had on the lives of its students and their families. The new facility has allowed the KIPP program to expand their middle school program and extend the experience for their students through high school, with both the middle and high schools being combined in the new building.
Congratulations to the entire project team!

I recently had the pleasure of attending the SMPS “Recognizing Outstanding Communication” (ROC) Awards Gala to see the best of the AEC industry’s marketing material for the year. Among the nominees this year in the Website category was ArrowstreetLive – incidentally, the only blog among the nominees! The submissions were undeniably inspiring, and we were honored to be included among such company.
Artists for Humanity has a new entry canopy, which has just won an award from 3-Form. The original design of the building included structural points of support, but at the time of its construction there was not enough funding to build a canopy. Now, just in time for their 20th anniversary, they’ve got one, funded by the Brown Fund and design/built by the AFH students, under guidance by a group of MassArt students taught by Sam Batchelor. Pat Cornelison and I helped in the design charrettes and supported the project in various other ways.

We’re pleased to announce that Arrowstreet was a Silver Award winner at this year’s ICSC Design and Development Awards with Wisconsin Place in the category of “Innovative Design and Development of a New Project”…
